My brother sent me that same talk.  I'd like to hear other people's thoughts on it, too.

I think the hardest thing about being creative in any terms is made ten times harder by the expectations set by other people of you. It's easy to say, "Yeah, well, I don't care what they think." It's ten times harder to really not let their expectations affect you. That's when you stress yourself into a problem.

You find yourself wondering with everything you create after that point, "Is this going to match or surpass what I did last time?" And in the end, you stop creating. You're now struggling and suffering and no longer creating and it can ruin any artist.

The first success always comes easy compared to the second, because the second is spent battling a perceived expectation that you think everyone else has.

Those are my thoughts, however disjointed they are.
