« on: September 02, 2004, 11:20:38 AM »
I have just been lazy and haven't disabled it yet, although I did disable the virus thing that comes with SP2.As soon as I go home for lunch I disable it. Is ZoneLabs ZoneAlarm still good? I am also pretty sure that my linksys wireless router/swtich has a built in firewall so I should be good.

I use Spybot for removing of ads, and Norton's Antivirus. I just downloaded the sp2 for win xp and that now serves as my firewall. I used to use ZoneLabs ZoneAlarm which seemed to work well.

Hello? I believe The_FOO suggested you make sure your BIOS wasn't fucked up.

That is why I did check it after I made the post, and why I said I feel stuipd.

« on: September 01, 2004, 08:33:10 PM »
Refering back to my upgrade soon thread, my computer is saying that I have an AMD 1500+ ATHLON XP. But It is suppose to be an AMD 2100+ ATHLON XP. Any one have any ideas why this could happen, and give any advice on how to fix this?
Thanks

I have to send my motherboard back to Soyo for an RMA. They replaced my motherboard so if anything is a newer verison of my motherboard. Even before I since my motherboard back for an RMA it was registering as a 1.3GHz processor.

I bet it's gotten tired over the years. I would throw some Gatorade on it and see if that gives it some more juice.

Ok, thanks. Well I am going to college so I think I am just going to see how much an All-in Wonder cost so I don't have to take a TV. I'm trying to take less, and currently I am working on ripping my cd collection onto my Computer via EAC.

Hardware, Software, and Other Imperialist Crap / Old processor
« on: September 01, 2004, 11:04:59 AM »
Well I had to send my motherboard back to Soyo to get fixed, so maybe that had something to do with it. Plus I had this processor for over 2 years now, and I remember heading something to the effect that over time that the processor degrades over time, but I don't know if it is true or not. Yeah I know the graphics cards does mostof the work, maybe I should just upgrade to an All-in-wonder. Doesn't ATI make an 9800 All-in-wonder pro with 256mb ram?

« on: September 01, 2004, 09:31:32 AM »
Just trying to keep ahead of the new games that are being release, and trying to speed my PC up a little bit more. Plus my AMD Athlon XP 2100+ has dropped down from running at 1.7 GHz to running at 1.30GHz. :( Which means I won't be able to play Doom3 when I get it in the mail, unless of course the guy I purchased it from wrote the recommend system requirements :(
