The only good Java is a dead Java. That doesn't even make sense. But I don't like it anyway, so there you go
What about C#?

Why are people so terrified of offending Muslims? Why are people so willing to give up their own freedom and choices at the drop of a hat because it might make some Muslim guy slightly upset? Why are people, in the year 2009, so willing to throw themselves in the wayback machine and live by rules made up by some guy centuries ago, even though they aren't part of that religion? What is it about this particular religion that seems to intimidate people so much?
Eh, it's the Glorious Islamic Caliphate of Britanistan. I shouldn't really be surprised.
Because we have to fear someone. If your not afraid of someone then you can't look to your all knowing goverment/political structure for guidance. We lost those damn commies and now we are reverting back to the old stand by of fearing Muslims. On another note, who the fuck came up with "Burkini"? My vote for one of the stupidest words ever.

If you think WoW is good now, you should have seen it when it first came out. I think it's gotten progressively worse with each expansion.
Truth. Thank God I quit when I did, another 4 years might have killed me. Welcome welcome.

Hate that if one has older versions .docx, .xlsx, etc. cannot be opened by them. Hate Excel 2007. Fortunately work stuck with 2003 and stuck with XP.
I thought MS patched older versions of office, or at least 2003, to beable to open .docx, .xlsx, ect.

I'm taking a sabbatical from WoW for awhile. I'm thinking until the next major expansion. Screw this Argent Tournament crap.
<rant>What the hell is wrong with Blizzard, anyways? It's like they have no idea what direction they're taking the game in. "HAY GUYZ WE'RE GONNA INTRODUCE SPACE GOATS AND CRASHED STARSHIPS AND WILD GLOWING FUTURISTIC CRAP IN THE NEXT XPAC. IT'LL BE AWESOME!" So they go and release that abortion know as "The Burning Crusade" and render all your epic gear obsolete after the first few quest rewards. Then the decided people really didn't want sci-fi crap in their WoW so they went back to old style look with "Wrath of the Lich King" *note, no Lich King actually ever fights with you* and decided two or three model styles of armor was all that was needed for ALL classes. Oh, and pretty much all casters now need to roll on the same gear so you've got priests, warlocks and mages all fighting over the same stuff.
BC had awesome craftable gear at high levels. They took that out for LK. The 'high end' stuff blows goats. Class specific quests? Screw that. Not anymore. Ye Olde Treasure Chests lying round the countryside? Nope. Took'em out. Good thing they kept the Dwarven racial ability of "Find Treasure" right? USELESS. They've watered down the game to the point were almost all classes have the same abilities. Just introduce a healing tree to the warrior class and get it over with. Bah. Screw this game. They had a thing of beauty and ran it right into the ground. </rant>
I quit WoW cold turkey last Oct and ever since then I have been looking at the changes and saying "I'm glad I'm not playing anymore." I loved Warcraft lore prior to WoW coming out and now it just seems like they have taking a big fat shit on it. Hopefully Diablo and Starcraft dont get the same treatment.

Yes but if the starter malfunctions when you turn the key, you can't just take the mechanism off and still drive the car. You might be surpised how fast a good ol' North Carolina girl like myself can take something out of a car. Criminal offense or not. A steering column has come apart because I lost my key once. I boosted my own car. I was in a hurry.
If it pissed me off once... it'd be gone.
How old was the car?

Same goes for workers like waitresses. I usually leave a huge tip. A lot of them don't even make minimum wage because of the "tips" scheme. So unless they are really blatantly rude or negligent, I leave way more than 15%.
I do the same. Those people work long hard days for pay that's often far below minimum wage because of the tip scheme. Tips (imo) should be just that, a gesture of appreciation, not a way to break even.

It was cancer.
Congo was kinda weird and yeah the movie wasn't that good. Jurasic Park was the best book ever! And Jeff Goldblum did an awesome job as Ian Malcom. The movie was pretty good. The movie was about about dinosaurs but the book...that was about MATH!! It was really great.
From wikipedia about Sphere..."The novel follows a psychologist named Norman Johnson, who is called by the United States Navy to join a team of scientists assembled by the U.S. Government to examine an enormous spacecraft discovered on the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. The depth of coral covering the craft proves that it has been lying there for over 300 years and so could only be of alien origin.
The novel begins as a science fiction story, but quickly transforms into a psychological thriller, ultimately exploring the nature of the human imagination."
I didn't like Prey that much, but I accidentally got the abridged version. I did like State of Fear alot.
Ah yes, cancer. Thanks Detta! Prey and State of Fear were good, but Next felt a little off. It seemed really disjointed. I kept wanting it to go from tangled web of characters to epic lesson about the hazards of corporate owned genetics, but it never did. It was still good, just not quite as much of a page turner as his earlier works.

Penny Arcade eXpo. One of the largest open to the public gaming conventions. Last year there was close to 60,000 gamers of all walks there. This year nearly all 75,000 passes have already been sold. Its 3 days of massive fun and its right in the heart of Seattle so its home town love for me http://www.paxsite.com/

I just have an 8 gig non-ipod mp3 player. Serves me well given I just can't bring myself to join the rest of the world with an iPod. I would feel like some kind of tool with one. Though I wont deny the attraction of an iPhone...

Everything shifts toward equalibrium. You'll just find other things to geek out about.
Take me for example. I go through ups and owns of how much I geek out over a given subject. Last year I was totally geeking out over Iron Maiden and metal in general, now that has kind of wained and I am a giddy school girl over the upcoming PAX.
Like you said, its not all pocket protectors and tape on the glasses, there is a whole world to geek out on, not just the satanic books of Stupid Sexy Flanders.
BTW: Anyone else going to PAX this year?

Michael Crichton.
They made a movie out of it. Had Samuel L Jackson and Dustin Hoffman in it, I think. But the movie was no good. Book was good.
I thought the movie was ok. I just hope there are no more Michael Crichton books coming out as movies. I know they read like scripts, but lets let the man rest in piece.

The one I had which is pretty small, was $200. Remember: These things are pretty much permanent, so don't do something stupid. Get something that actually has some type of meaning for you. 30 years down the line, you don't want to look at it and think 'Whisky Tango Foxtrot was I on when I did that to myself?'
