HDTV on Computer
« on: January 13, 2006, 07:52:52 PM »

Hey,

I just built a computer with an ASUS extreme N7800 GTX graphics card and I'm wondering about watching HD broadcasts on my computer.  Is there any software that will decode HD broadcasts from the coax input?  I'm interested in eventually making my computer the center for my entertainment center, so getting HD broadcasts would be essential.

Thanks for any help!

Oh yeah, as you can tell, I'm new to these forums but I love what I see so far!

I don't know.  I went to Davis for school.  Are you a student?

I'm not sure if it is possible (And legal), however this site might be able to provide you with some useful information.

I went to UC Santa Barbara and now live in Davis.  I'm currently trying to get into the Neuroscience PhD program.

I don't know why it would be illegal.  You can buy HDTVs that decode the HD signal out of the box.  All you have to do is plug in the coax cable.  My parents have one such TV.
