Opportunity to be a worthwhile human bean

I have an opportunity for you to flex your charitable muscle. February is the month of the February Fitness Challenge for us swimmers. I am a three-time defending national champion for my age group. Basically the contest is to see how many yards one can swim during the month. In 2001 and 2002 I swam 254K+ yards. Last year I swam 301K. This year my estimate is 267K ± about 35K.

Last year our team decided to put a different twist to this. February is now "Can Do Month". For every 2500 yards we swim we are going to donate one can of food to our local foodbank to help out our community. It was a success, our team fed tons of people in the community. This year the plan is a can for every 2000 yards (so it's an anticipated 134 ± 17 food items).

This is where you can help. I'm going to do all the swimming, but I'd like to give you the opportunity to give back to your community by sponsoring me in my quest. If you're interested in sponsoring me, just email me at pbsaurusATyahooPERIODcom and I'll add you to my mailing list and keep you abreast (heh heh, I said breast) of my progress through the month. You would then donate a can for every 2000 yards I swim to your local foodbank. For those of you who could donate more, pick a number less than 2000yd/can for those who couldn't afford to donate at that level can pick a number more than 2000yd/can. Come on now, all the cool kids are doing it!

Come on and take one for the team and email me today!

2500 was last year.  This year we've upped the ante.  But I'm the one doing the real work.

It's that time of the year again. Last year I was sick for half of it and only was able to compile 120K, but this year I should be back in the 275,000 +/- 50,000 range. The deal is, I swim the yardage, and for every 2,000 yards I swim, you donate to your designated charity, either cash, items, or time. My team has been doing our local food bank for the past 3 years so I donated 60 items (peanut butter, mac and cheese, canned soup, etc.) last year and 150 items the year before. So is anyone in? If so email or pm me and let me know your charity and your pledge per 2,000 yard increment.
