And as to the original topic of this thread, since I trainwrecked it....

My favourite bourbon is Maker's Mark.  I've tried a good number of different quality bourbons and for the money, Maker's is the one I keep coming back to.  For cheaper ones I like Beam over Jack, but that's personal preference.

When it comes to scotch (shut up you guys, I know we've discussed this Somewhere) I prefer Balvenie 12 year old "Double Wood" single malt.  Laphroaig is also one of my favorites, but I must admit it's an acquired taste.  I distinctly did not like it the first time I tried it.  Dalmore is a more inexpensive single malt option... at $29 a bottle, you can't beat the taste.  Most single malt scotches are going to run you around $10 more a bottle than that in the states.
