I think that's because of forums such as this one that tends to draw us away from actual people, and in towards "teh internet".

lol....even if the internet didn't exist i would still avoid people..i mean i'm not antisocial...most of the times when i'm out around people i just tend to stay quiet and it gets awkward to i like to avoid that

Wouldn't that put us closer to avoidant or antisocial? Schizotypal seems to peg us a little closer to mildly insane rather than general dislike of others or hanging out with others.

Good lord! Am I the only sane one here. My results were "Low" across the board. I have no idea what I did to get those ratings, but it works for me.

Guess I'll just stay here... by myself... alone... with nobody else here...

Oh ho, apparently I am quite the narcissist, and am also schizotypal and avoidant. Oh yeah, and I'm a praise whore too (i.e. histrionic).

It exaggerates a lot, but the test is basically correct.

Questions like "do you often feel helpless and depressed?" and "do you fear losing someone close to you?" are what lead me to believe that this test and its results are not really to be taken seriously.

Who DOESN'T fear losing someone close to them, and who DOESN'T feel helpless or depressed sometimes (most people who are relatively "normal", who have never actually felt clinicially depressed don't really know the meaning of the word)?

Who DOESN'T feel socially unaccepted sometimes? Who DOESN'T get anxious about new situations? Who DOESN'T feel inadequate sometimes? Who DOESN'T take criticism personally?

Honestly, the only questions in there that apply in any real sense to most people are the "do you steal things from people or stores", "Have you ever been in jail or done something that you could be put in jail for", and other questions like that.

Feeling inadequate, emotionally attached to others, feeling helpless, socially unaccepted, anxious, or angry is part of being human.

It's when you let it rule every single aspect of your whole life that you might have some kind of disorder.

Most of you guys are probably just fine. Not that you're all taking this seriously or anything, but it takes a shrink with some letters behind his name to determine whether or not one has a personality disorder, and sometimes they don't even know what they're talking about (believe me, I know... my mom's a friggin basketcase). One can't effectively do this with a 50 question internet quiz....

BTW, it said I was "paranoid".... tell me something I don't know...
