And the beat goes on..

You are putting 6 items into a Time capsule that will be opened in two thousand years.

What will you put into the capsule that says something about you, this time in the world's history, and what it's like living today?

Be creative, be original...9 out of 10 people surveyed said the Bible as one of their first two choices.

Originality does count for something. Not sure what, but it does.  :?

ps. I am not bashing the Bible selecting folks. I was one of the 90% who picked it, but it wasn't in my first two choices.

Something about me: A photo of my face with my eyes being prominent - to see into my soul or a Journal.

This time in history: A microchip.

Whats it like living today: A collection of advertisments, show the world turning into a complete commercial consumerist disaster.

I would put in a newspaper from this day, a Time magazine, and a science magazine of some kind.  Maybe put in a Farmer's Almanac.

The other two things would be my bracelet that I wear every day and last, but not least, a DNA packed vile of my blood.   8)

6 items?

The journal I kept travelling through the Middle East. It probably won't be there in the future, so it'll be historical.

A gas mask.

A copy of the US and EU Constitutions and the UN Charter. Hopefully they'll be able to still read them and will understand that we were on the right track (Is this one or three items? I have a bound copy of all three, so it's one for my capsule.)

A CD player and batteries (which will hopefully not have leaked themselves dry) with a CD of John Coltrane.

A box of legos, because they're timeless.

Last would be a copy of Orwell's 1984, so they could compare how they turned out versus what we thought they would be.

Good call on 1984 and the journal. BNW and "over there" were the first two things I thought of.

1. Brave New World
2. CIA World Factbook on the middle east.
3. The issue of The Economist that comes out the week this election cycle ends.
4. My big 7-11 coffee cup. They can grow cultures from it.
5. My student ID. I've got my grrr face on.
6. My flippers. 2000 years is no excuse for not having comfortable sandals.

1. A Twinkie just to see if it's true what they say about it's shelf life?
2. A bottle of "Two Buck Chuck" from Trader Joe's
3. GWB's brain, seeing as he isn't using it.
4. A CD of the Firesign Theater's "Everything You Know is Wrong" along with a CD Player and AC Adapter, counting on 110 AC still being a standard.
5. A package of sea monkeys with instructions.  Reanimation is cool if this could possibly work.
6. My 2004 Tualatin Hills Barracudas February Fitness Challenge T-Shirt

hmmm...

I've been thinking about this one for a few days now. I rattled off my first four selections inside of two minutes. The next two I really had a problem with.

Here are my first four:

World Almanac 2003
A CD with the more popular songs form all the genres
A photo album
My personal journal

now here's where I had the trouble. My remaining two should reflect that there was hope and those who worked to better their local situation.

Number 5 would have to be my class curriculum for my chruch school class that I teach.

My number six probably reveals the most about me and it also ties in to number five: my Bible with my notes in it.

Good call. I was torn between 1984 and BNW.

I was also torn between putting in Coltrane or putting in Mozart, but hoped that people would still know Mozart in 2000 years.

Six things....

Just because noone could verify it.....

An old piece of newsprint that declared me Dictator of North America
A safe, in which i would keep the smaller articles in the capsule, minus the photosensor rigged to a High-explosive device
A stone Tablet which would translate, essentially, to Andy is god, worship him.
Previously statted Light-triggered bomb, so whomever finds it thinks it's a miracle.
Joe... (Detta, if you read this, you'll prolly understand what i mean)
A fully backed-up copy of the geekery on a hermetically sealed laptop, minus this post.

1) Hustler magazine - To show what "beauty" was in our time (as that changes from period to period) and Playboy and Penthouse are too airbrushed.
2) A breakdown of the GDP so they can see how we spent our money
C) Money
4) A picture of me, naked
5) My family tree which has been researched back to about 1500
6) My teeth
